3 Simple Steps: Creating a measurable change!

Updated: Feb 3, 2021

Mental Heath | Mentally Healthy Workplace | Psychosocial Hazards | Psychologically Safety Workplace | Wellbeing

All these buzz words are flying around at the moment, but very little is understood! I get it, there's so much to take in, I mean, where do you even start?

With the recovery of COVID looming, companies will start to see the real impact on their business in these areas. High staff turnover, increased sick leave and WorkCover Claims. Not to mention, our day to day 'duty of care'!

What can you do?

  1. Carry out a workplace Psychosocial Risk Assessment. These should incorporate things like work organisation, social factors, work environment, equipment and hazardous tasks. This assessment will become a living, breathing, organism within your business. Like a North Star, always showing you the direction to go in next.

  2. Develop a strategy from your assessment. This can be a 12-month plan. Incorporating yearly events, work commitments, training (who and why will come from the assessment). PRO TIP: immediately plan low-risk high-yield activities. This builds confidence and momentum within the team as you focus on more in-depth planning.

  3. Action: implement your initiatives. Test and measure against your assessment. Ensuring the desired outcomes are achieved.

By carrying out these simple steps, you'll build and healthy and happy team, who feel that you care about them. After all, isn't that what we all want! You will also be focusing on what 'actually' needs doing. No more assuming or guess work.

Happy teams are 10% more engaged and higher-performing!
